Alert! Whatsapp Will Stop Working After February 8, If You Don’t Accept New Terms Of Service

 Reportedly, Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp started sending in-app notifications to its users further informing them about the change in its Terms of Service and its privacy policy on Tuesday late evening.

How Did This Happen?

The popular messaging app WhatsApp users belonging to India and other countries were greeted with the  WhatsApp in-app notification, first thing in the morning.

The notification was focusing on its new terms of service and privacy policy. 

Soon, the popular messaging app started trending on Twitter when users reported getting the message about its changed policies.

The in-app notification read as “WhatsApp is updating its terms and privacy policy,”.

What Does WhatsApp Key Updates Include?

The key updates were sent to both Android and iOS users along with the notification.

The latest key updates include changes in WhatsApp services and also the way it processes the data of the users. 

In addition to that, it also includes updates about how businesses can use Facebook hosted services to store and manage their WhatsApp chats.

The updates also include changes about how WhatsApp partners with Facebook to offer integrations across the Facebook company products.

What If Users Do Not Accept The Changes?

The new terms and privacy policy from WhatsApp will come into effect from February 8, 2021. 

If users want to keep using their WhatsApp accounts after the mentioned date, they will have to accept these terms and changes.

In simple words, users who don’t accept these changes will be banished from the platform for good.

How To Check Changes In This Release?

If you are interested in the changes in this release, the specifications are already provided on Whatsapp’s website.

The interested users can get the required detailed information as to what exactly is changing from there. 

Out of the many changes, the most significant is that the company has made pertains to the information that it collects. 

According to Whatsapp, “When a user forwards media within a message, we store that media temporarily in encrypted form on our servers to aid in more efficient delivery of additional forwards,”. 

Earlier, this section was missing in the previous edition which was last updated in December 2019.

Further, the company said, “If any of your contacts aren’t yet using our Services, we’ll manage this information for you in a way that ensures those contacts cannot be identified by us,”.
