Apple WWDC 2023

Apple WWDC 2023: Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference regularly sets the tone for the company’s future, and that may be truer than ever for 2023. Many expect the company to introduce its first mixed reality headset at the event, with a new platform to match. How to Remove Saved Passwords From Google Chrome

Google Chrome is undoubtedly the most popular browser. It comes by default on every Android phone. People also prefer Google’s offering compared to Safari and Internet Explorer on the desktop. A new wave of browsers like Brave and Vivaldi and old players like Firefox and Microsoft Edge are gearing up with better offerings with more features. If you are planning to switch from Google Chrome to any other browser then it’s advisable to remove the saved passwords from the Chrome browser.

Most web browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, etc. offer a built-in password manager to store, manage, and auto-fill login details hassle-free. While the users mostly invest in a full-fledged password manager, it’s common to see the same users saving passwords on a preferred web browser such as Google Chrome.

When users switch from their daily Google Chrome browser to a new Firefox or Microsoft Edge, they only import Bookmarks and History. People often forget to export or remove the saved passwords from the old Chrome browser, leaving them to a potential data breach.

In this post, we are going to talk about how to delete saved passwords on Google Chrome. You can either opt for the Google Chrome desktop browser, or use the Google Chrome app (more on that later) to modify or remove saved passwords.

USE GOOGLE CHROME DESKTOP

You can use the Google Chrome desktop version to look for the saved passwords and make changes. Go through the steps below and delete saved passwords from Chrome.

Step 1: Open the Google Chrome browser on the desktop.

Step 2: Make sure you are signed in using the Google account login credentials.

Step 3: You can either go to Settings > Autofill > Passwords or tap on the little Profile icon in the menu bar and open the Passwords menu.

Step 4: Here, you will see a list of saved passwords with website names and usernames. Unlike Firefox, Google Chrome doesn’t show the created date, last modified date, and other details.

Step 5: Scroll down to the website info that you want to delete and tap on the three-dot menu.

Step 6: Select Remove to delete the saved login information from the Google Chrome browser.

Unfortunately, Google Chrome doesn’t offer a dedicated password manager like Firefox Lockwise. But the good news, there is a way to view, manage, and remove saved passwords from the Google Chrome mobile app.

USE GOOGLE CHROME ON MOBILE

On iPhone

Step 1: Open Google Chrome on the iPhone.

Step 2: Go to the Settings menu from the bottom bar menu.

Step 3: Navigate to the Passwords menu.

Step 4: Tap on the website name whose login info you want to delete and select Delete from the following menu.

Users usually remove passwords from Google Chrome when they plan to move to another browser or are not using the older credentials. In such cases, it’s advisable to export the login information with you. Google Chrome allows you to export the login details so you can easily add them to the new browser. Follow through the steps below to export login info from the Google Chrome browser on the desktop.

Step 1: Open the Google Chrome browser on the desktop.

Step 2: Make sure you are signed in using the Google account credentials.

Step 3: Tap on the Settings menu at the upper right corner.

Step 4: Open the Autofill > Saved Passwords menu.

Step 5: Tap on the three-dot menu beside the Saved Passwords option.

Step 6: Select Export Passwords. Remember, your passwords will be visible to anyone with access to the exported file. So keep it somewhere safe where only you have the permission to view the file.

Now, you can import the CSV file to the new browser and enjoy the seamless auto-fill process.

As I mentioned earlier, People often forget to remove unnecessary login info from the old browser. The practice makes users vulnerable to potential data theft.
